Foundation Excavation
Plainfield, CT
Roberts Construction opened a full basement on a 1.5-acre Plainfield lot where sandy loam capped a layer of glacial till. From the first blade in the ground to a hole cleared for inspection, the whole dig ran two days.

A pair of complications threatened the pace. Groundwater sat close to the surface across the rear third of the parcel, and a buried line of fieldstone left from an 1800s foundation cut straight through the planned dig. We shifted the excavation layout to keep the basement slab clear of the seasonal high-water mark, then pulled the old stone out in a single afternoon and never lost a day off the framing schedule.
By the third day the builder was already setting walls. The final inspection passed clean with nothing on the punch list, and the homeowner held their certificate of occupancy roughly a month ahead of the date first promised.
